Circuit 12 is a new initiative being launched by TRRAC to raise awareness of RC racing with Secondary school students in Tamworth. We have used our contacts within the RC industry and input of experienced members to purchase several cars that will be made available for hire during our club meetings to let students experience RC racing and develop relevant STEM skills.
During our club meetings we aim to not only give you opportunity to drive the cars but also learn how they work, how to maintain them and tune them – just like in full size motor sport.
On track you will be able to take part in three qualifying races to determine your starting position for the final head to head race for victory. We will give circuit 12 racers your own set of races so there is no pressure to compete with more experienced racers just yet.
Off track our friendly team will give you an overview of the cars and be on hand to answer any questions.

Circuit 12 is aimed at local secondary school aged students with an interest in STEM subjects and/ or motorsports. No prior RC experience is needed as we will be on hand to guide you to make the most of your evenings racing and introduce you to the exciting world of RC racing.
One of the great aspects of RC racing is that it is very accessible. We regularly have a wide range of age groups with different abilities racing together.
All we ask is that you come along with a parent or guardian and enjoy experiencing our great hobby.

To get involved just complete the entry form using the link at the bottom of the page when the next meeting is live to register your interest for an upcoming club event. If a car is available then we will be in touch to let you know and give you the details so you know what will happen on the day.
Alternatively, you you would prefer to come down, have a chat first and see some racing that would be fine. Just let us know in advance so we know to expect you.
You can also drop us an email if you have any questions and we will do our best to assist.

To take part as a Circuit 12 driver costs £10 per meeting. This is paid using PayPal prior to the event as part of the booking-in process.
If you take part in more than three meetings then you will also need to join our governing body, the BRCA (British Radio Car Association). Joining provides third-party liability insurance, allowing you to race safely and legally at BRCA-affiliated clubs and events. Junior membership is only £15 per year.

The cars are based on the “LMP-GT3” rules developed by the BRCA. This class is specifically designed around low cost club racing as it runs spec equipment where possible to keep costs under control and make it as accessible as possible.
Each of the cars is powered by a 2 cell LiPo battery with a 25.5 turn brushless motor and runs on special foam tyres to give maximum grip on our carpet race track.
Lap times are recorded by a unique transponder in each car using our computer controlled timing equipment so you can compare your times against each other.
If you enjoy the racing experience, and want to take it a step further it may be possible to purchase cars and equipment though the club so you don’t have to worry about identifying and buying the equipment yourself.

Ahead of each meeting we transform the sports hall at our venue into a 12m x 28m track – see the image below of a typical layout!

The booking form below can be used to request use of a Circuit12 car for the club night on 12th September. The form will be accessible from 1st September at 20.00.
If you are offered a car for the evening please arrive at 16.30 to be ready for the first race of the evening!
